Certificate of Achievement

Our two-year Certificate of Achievement provides students with skills and preparation for entry-level graphic design positions. Career opportunities might include: in-house graphic designer, digital illustrator, production artist, web designer and freelance designer.

This 36-unit course of study gives students the opportunity to develop design and software skills by creating realistic projects. The first year emphasizes basic design and layout skills and introduces students to the Adobe Suite programs: InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator.

The second year builds on these skills by offering challenging projects that students might encounter in actual graphic design jobs. While some courses focus on the print production aspects of graphic design (GD57: Getting it Printed), others expand into the world of web/digital design and publishing (GD58: Advanced Page Layout & Advertising Design).

Students emerge from the 2-year program with a strong set of digital and print design skills and a professional web/print portfolio that showcases those skills.
